Introducing Wild Directions
As it says on this site’s homepage, I’ve created Wild Directions to serve as a sort of digital watering hole–a place for thinkers, creatives, and curious people of all kinds to learn about science and conservation practice.
While I pursue my PhD in zoology, I want to be intentional about a couple of things:
Connecting my studies to my long-term career goals in accessible scientific communication and research synthesis. If I’m going to be reading papers every day anyway, I may as well be putting all that time to greater use.
Creating an archive of all things PhD. This is a wild journey I’m about to embark on, and I want to be able to look back at my thoughts and progress as I move through it.
Developing and maintaining a consistent writing practice. After three years out of school, my ability to churn out a steady daily word count is pretty rusty, and I’d like to stay accountable to my work through regular practice.
And after I’ve completed my degree program, I’ll be excited to have built up a brand and community of environmental stewardship that I can continue to run with throughout my career in conservation.
I hope you’ll consider joining me on this journey of learning, growth, and creative and scientific exploration. Stay tuned for so much more to come!
